The Glenvar volleyball will wrap up the regular season tonight with a road game at Floyd County. The Three Rivers District athletic directors voted not to have a district tournament so this will be Glenvar’s last game until the Region 2C tournament begins in a couple weeks.
Glenvar comes into tonight’s match with a 16-3 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Three Rivers. Last Thursday at home the Highlanders defeated Patrick County in three sets, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-15.
It was “Senior Night” at Glenvar and the Highlanders two seniors, Sophia Hammersley and Addi Cockram, both had big nights. Hammersley had four kills, 11 assists and 13 digs while Cockram had four kills, three digs and a block. Junior Macy McMahon had eight kills and three aces and freshman Emily Rohrback had 13 assists, four kills and four serving aces.
“It was a very strong team performance, especially from the service line as we totaled 10 aces with only one missed serve the entire match,” said Glenvar coach Mark Rohrback. “We also played consistently well on defense.”
After tonight the Highlanders will practice and wait to see who they play when the region seedings are announced.
