Bonnie Tester Giarla, Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her mom, Stella; sister, Rosemary; and her favorite brother in the world, John.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 42 years, Dana Giarla; her four kids, Dan (Kelly) Giarla, James (Amber) Giarla, Jonathan (Kristen) Giarla, and Kelly (Jared) Williams.  She also leaves behind her sister, Angie (Harvey) Harris; a handful of nieces and nephews; numerous cherished grandkids; and one great-grandchild.

Bonnie loved to spoil her grandkids, create artwork for people she loved, and spent her time reading.  She also enjoyed watching the birds on her deck and playing cards with friends.  Nothing made her happier than being with those she loved.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they provided their beloved mom and wife in her final days.  The family would also like to thank John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem for their care and grace.

Arrangements will be held privately, in accordance with Bonnie’s wishes.  Condolences, however, may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.

Finally, to quote one of Bonnie’s favorite sayings: “I love you most, I win”
