New Feature Added to Salem Public Library’s Website: LibGuide for Aging Well
The goal of the Salem Public Library, to engage and inform the aging population and their care givers on issues related to aging well, is one that Theresa Baga, Senior Library Assistant embraced wholeheartedly. Baga launched The Resilient Library Newsletter at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic to maintain the library’s connection with our senior population and to share her research on reliable sources of information for issues facing our aging population of baby boomers. Art and crafts and puzzle and games programs give seniors another place to develop a sense of community. Baga works closely with local agencies like League of Older Americans (LOA), non-profits and businesses that offer services to senior citizens to provide unbiased, instructional library programming on topics informing about insurance options, long-term care, estate planning and caregiving, and how to stay in shape physically, mentally and emotionally. Baga continues to add books to the library collection that deal with issues related to aging well.
This online guide, compiled by Baga, is designed to support older adults in aging with confidence, connection, and vitality. This guide brings together a wide range of reliable resources—from local programs and state services to national organizations and online learning platforms. Whether you’re seeking wellness tools, caregiving support, housing guidance, or lifelong learning opportunities, you’ll find clear descriptions, direct links, and contact information to help you navigate each option with ease. Visit our library’s website at www.salemlibrary.info, navigate to Resources for Older Adults in the left-hand menu, and click on Healthy Aging Resources to access this free and comprehensive resource for older adults.
