new Bradford pear trees on East MainStreet in Salem in the block that includes Green Market, Casual Fashions, and Brooks-Byrd Pharmacy.
“The trees are being planted to enhance the appearance of the block,” said Randy Smith, assistant city manager.
Smith said that several weeks ago when the asphalt in that block was replaced, the curb and sidewalk were torn up, Trees were added to beautify the area when cement and brick had to be replaced.
Mr. Cameron Brooks, one of the owners of Brooks-Byrd Pharmacy, and his staff are very pleased with the new trees. “They are a much-needed addition to downtown Salem,” he said.
