Roanoke College was the site of the East Coast Elite #1 Indoor Track meet last Saturday and Salem High had some strong performances.
Salem’s Audrey Harmon won the 500 dash and Olivia Huff was fifth. DaVon Jones won the 300 dash in the boys’ meet with Julian Morton taking fifth and Aedon Wiley seventh.
Second places were earned by Tristen Noel in the boys 500 and the girls’ 4×400 relay team of McKenzie Eversole, Addison Hancock, Huff and Audrey Harmon. Eversole was third in the 1,600 and the boys took two thirds, John Stovall in the 1,000 and Austin Prosser in the 3,200.
Finishing fifth were Markiya Webb in the girls’ 300 and Morton in the 55 dash. Also taking fifth was the boys’ 4×400 relay team of Thomas Scharp, Bryce Crew, Stovall and Grant Horner. Webb also took a seventh in the girls’ 55 dash.
The Spartans will be back at Roanoke College this Saturday for the East Coast Elite Meet #2, and Glenvar is also scheduled to run. The Highlanders did not compete last weekend so the students could attend the Class 2 state football game at Salem Stadium.
