The Salem girls have a busy week before the holidays as they try to close out the season undefeated.
Salem defeated Lord Botetourt, 55-26, in Salem on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Spartans were scheduled to play at William Byrd Wednesday, but results were too late for publication, and Friday they go to Cave Spring. Their final game before Christmas is next Monday, December 22nd, at home against Northside.
The Spartans haven’t been challenged thus far. The 2025 state Class 4 runners-up hosted Patrick Henry in their River Ridge District opener last Friday and buried the Patriots, 57-15. Kourtney Goens had 18 points and five rebounds, Gabby Crawley had 10 points and six boards and Bailey Rider had eight points, five rebounds and six assists against a traditionally strong rival.
“Good night for the Spartans,” said coach Scott Jester. “We’ve had a lot of battles against PH in the last few years and have a lot of respect for their program, so it always feels good to beat them.”
