The Roanoke College women are making a run to earn a spot in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference basketball tournament with two weeks to go in the regular season. The Maroons have won their last three conference games to tie for eighth spot in the ODAC with eight of the 12 teams qualifying for the post-season tournament.

Roanoke has defeated Randolph, Hollins and Eastern Mennonite in the last three games to improve to 4-8 in the conference, tying the University of Lynchburg for eighth place. RC will play at Lynchburg on February 18th in a game that could determine who makes the tournament.

Last Wednesday at home the Maroons hosted Hollins and took a 66-57 win at the Cregger Center. Nadia Snesarev and Ashley Fowler led the offensive charge with 13 points each. Alicea Farmer also hit double figures with 11.

On Saturday in Harrisonburg the Maroons completed a season sweep of Eastern Mennonite with a 65-56 win over the Royals. Freshman Cecilia Robinson topped the squad in scoring with 12 points as she went 4-8 from the field and added four free throws. Robinson’s fellow freshman, Moriah Tate, was right behind with 11 points. Tate also dished out a team high three assists while picking up two steals on the evening as the Maroons improved to 10-11 overall.

The Maroons were hoping to keep it going Wednesday of this week with a home game against Averett. The Cougars are just 2-10 in the ODAC and 6-14 overall. Lynchburg was scheduled to play at Hollins on Wednesday.

This Saturday the Maroons are home again to host Shenandoah at 2 pm while Lynchburg goes to Averett. Then it’s RC against the Hornets next Wednesday in Lynchburg.
