Roanoke College goalie Alex Feuer makes a point blank save in Monday’s ODAC tournament quarterfinal win over Virginia Wesleyan.

The Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference semifinal with a 17-4 win over Virginia Wesleyan at Salem’s Kerr Stadium Monday. The Maroons will play at the University of Lynchburg Friday in the semifinal round.

On Monday in Salem seniors Patrick Cullen and Julian Kammerman combined for 14 points in the win over visiting Virginia Wesleyan. Senior goalie Alex Feuer made 18 stops and allowed just two goals as a strong defensive effort helped propel the Maroons to victory.

The Maroons attacked early and never looked back, allowing just one Marlin goal the entire first half. Cullen’s six-goal, one-assist effort spearheaded the offensive attack and Kammerman had three goals and four assists. Tyler Schmelzer finished just behind Cullen and Kammerman with six points on two goals and four assists. Noah Bell netted three goals on the night and now has exactly 100 points for his career.

Top seeded Washington & Lee will host Hampden-Sydney in the other semifinal. W&L beat Shenandoah, 27-8, while Hampden-Sydney squeaked by Randolph-Macon,12-11 in overtime.

With Monday’s win the Maroons are 13-4 overall and 8-2 in ODAC games.
