
Dr. Owusu Asamoah has been selected for the 2026 Heroes Project by United Way of Virginia’s Blue Ridge in the Health Heroes category.
Now in its third year, the Heroes Project recognizes individuals across Virginia’s Blue Ridge who make meaningful impacts in their communities.
Asamoah was recognized for the care, compassion and advocacy he brings to patients, families and colleagues. He also was recently named 2026 Physician of the Year at LewisGale Medical Center.
In addition to his work locally, Asamoah is involved in efforts to advance health equity in the United States and abroad. He makes annual trips to Ghana to provide free cardiovascular screenings and health education.
