Roanoke College senior Ophelia Ladner broke the ODAC all-time record in the 400 hurdles as the Maroons competed at the Lee Last Chance Qualifier last Saturday. The meet was held at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Ladner ran a 1:01.55 in the 400-meter hurdles to become the ODAC record holder. In doing so, she broke the previous record of 1:01.82 which was set in 2015 by Janey Fugate of Washington & Lee. Ladner also reset the program record with her time, which she set the standard for at last season’s ODAC Championships with a time of 1:01.93. She now holds both the ODAC All-Time and ODAC Meet Record in the 400m hurdles.
Mitchell Taylor, a freshman from Salem, finished third overall in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.59. He was just shy of his personal best mark which stands at 14.56.
Lindsey Hobin ran a time of 56.73 in the 400 meter to place eighth overall.
Max Cardwell, Lorenzo Camobreco, and Salem High grad Bryson Hill all competed in the men’s 400 meter. Cardwell and Camobreco finished back to back with times of 48.73 and 48.78 respectively. Hill ran a 50.43 on the afternoon.
DeShawn Austin rounded out the RC competitors with a leap of 6.19m in the long jump.
