The Glenvar tennis teams were rained out of matches against Patrick Henry Monday with the regular season nearing a close. Both matches will be made up next Tuesday, May 19, with the girls at home and the boys in Stuart.
Last Friday both teams played Radford with mixed results. The boys defeated the Bobcats in Radford, 5-4, but the girls lost at home, 7-2. The Radford girls remained undefeated with the win.
“The ladies played well but fell short,” said coach Shannon Hall. Priya Patel won a point for Glenvar at six singles and Riley Price and Karis Gillespie won at number two doubles.
The girls are now 7-5 and next week will be a busy time with a trip to Floyd Monday, Patrick at home Tuesday and Carroll at home Wednesday. The girls are at Carroll today.
“We’ll need to stay focused the next two weeks to improve our seed for the region tournament,” said Hall.
