The Hello Summer Festival will return to Green Hill Park on Friday, June 5, offering live music, family activities, food vendors and a patriotic drone show to celebrate the unofficial start of summer.
The free event, hosted by Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism, will take place from 6-10 p.m. at the park in Roanoke County.
Festival activities from 6-9:30 p.m. will include a Kid Zone with inflatables sponsored by Renewal by Andersen of Roanoke, a cooling station sponsored by Leafguard, caricatures, balloon animals, face painting, arm dipping, summer strands, laser tag, cornhole and other lawn games.
Live music will be provided by The Radio Sparks from 7-9:30 p.m. Organizers described the group as a three-piece lineup featuring live-band karaoke roots, crowd-focused song selections and cover music.
The evening will conclude with the Airloom drone show from 9:30-10 p.m. The patriotic-themed performance will commemorate America’s 250th birthday as part of Virginia’s VA250 celebration.
Organizers encouraged attendees planning to attend only the drone show to arrive early because parking is expected to fill quickly.
Food and beverages, including a cashless bar, will be available for purchase. Outside food and beverages will be permitted but subject to checks. Outside alcohol will not be allowed.
Food vendors scheduled to participate include Blue Cow Ice Cream Co., Copper Dog & Co., HW Concessions, International Grill Co., La Shunca, Palumbo’s, Queen’s Vegan Café, Smooshed, Sweet Revenge and The Tot Box.
