Ophelia Ladner of Roanoke College missed the cut for the finals of the 400 meter hurdles by a mere seven-thousandths of a second, claiming Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division III outdoor track championships in Wisconsin last week. The event was held at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Ladner finished in 10th place overall and claimed the fourth spot in Heat 2 with a time of 1:01.560. The ninth and final qualifying slot went to Stockton’s Emma Petrolia, who clocked in at 1:01.553.
The performance earned Ladner a Second Team All-America citation in the event for the second straight season, after she placed 12th at the national championship meet in Geneva, Ohio in 2025.
Ladner’s time was just a fraction of a second behind her program and ODAC record of 1:01.55, which she established earlier this month at the Lee Last Chance Qualifier in Cleveland, Tenn. She also set the conference championship record (1:01.93) a season ago enroute to the first of her two ODAC titles in the 400m hurdles.
