The Cassells of Salem finally got a win.
Mike and Pam “The Little General” Cassell submit several entries every week and usually win at least once. This season they won a couple days of free golf from our 19th Hole contest but couldn’t hit the big one…at least until this week.
The Little General missed just two games this week, as did several others, but was closest to the high point total of 58 by James Madison University. Pam missed Oklahoma over Alabama, as did 98 percent of our contestants, and also slipped up by taking Seattle over the Rams. She hit the other 13 games on the nose and her high point total of 56 earned her the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s.
For our 19th Hole question I asked you to tell me something you were thankful for with Thanksgiving coming up. I got a lot of good ones, too many to list them all, but there was one that really made me laugh. It came from Salem’s Marvin Clark who wrote he would be; “Thankful to hear ‘Yakety, Yak, don’t talk back’ when a manager argues with an umpire next spring.”
Of course Marvin was talking about the Salem baseball team’s new name, Ridge Yaks, and I can see that happening. Thanks for the laugh, Marvin, and enjoy a round of golf on Chuck Johnston at the Academy Street course.
For this week’s 19th Hole we’re into the second week of the playoffs. Looking down the list one game really jumps out at me, William Byrd at Lord Botetourt. They met once already this season with Byrd taking a 42-41 win in Vinton, and it was a real barn burner. This time it’s in Daleville, so give me your prediction of that game and the closest to the actual score will get a free round of golf at the Salem Municipal Course.
