There is a new club coming in November to Roanoke, Virginia, and it is open to everyone.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is an American warehouse club chain known for their reasonable prices. Kristy Houston, Director of Public Relations for the Roanoke club, could not be happier to serve the Salem community in the coming months.
“At BJ’s, we are focused on providing value and convenience to our members. With a wide assortment of fresh foods, apparel, the latest tech and more, we believe we provide an exciting shopping experience to our members,” she said. “We have also launched several programs to make shopping even more convenient, like shopping online and picking up in-Club, digital coupons on our app.”
Located along Hershberger Road in the Crossroads Shopping Center, the Roanoke club will feature a gas station. Business hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
In June, the BJ’s Charitable Foundation donated $10,000 to Feeding America Southwest Virginia to assist in providing fresh, nutritious foods to Virginia families and other individuals in need. An additional $50,000 was donated last week. The company also launched a partnership with the Salem Red Sox, a Class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
“BJ’s is thrilled to partner with the Salem Red Sox as we celebrate our newest club opening in Roanoke later this fall,” said Kirk Saville, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at BJ’s Wholesale Club, at the time. “At BJ’s, we focus on nourishing our communities and helping families thrive, and we’re happy to help give families access to healthy, fresh food with our donation.”
Similar to Sam’s Club, members of BJ’s Wholesale Club pay an annual fee to be able to shop for discounted items. What makes BJ’s different, according to Salem resident Tyler Brown, is just how much one can get for their dollar.
“Every retail store has something to offer. You don’t necessarily need to take out a loan to shop at BJ’s though,” Brown said with a smile. “I consider BJ’s arguably the best warehouse club chain because of everything that they offer – electronics, home goods, food, computers and so much more.”
According to Kristy, BJ’s will be hiring around 140 team members for the Roanoke club. Individuals interested in employment are encouraged to fill out an online application.
“BJ’s is the leading membership warehouse club on the east coast offering members outstanding value and convenience. BJ’s members save up to 25 percent off grocery store prices – that is potentially thousands of dollars saved each year,” she said.
B.J’s Wholesale Club, currently headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, began operating in 1984. As of July 2018, BJ’s operates more than 200 clubs in 16 states while employing roughly 25,000 part and full-time team members.
