Heavy metal powerhouse Black Label Society will bring its blistering riffs and high-energy performance to the Salem Civic Center on Tuesday, May 12. The band will be joined by openers Zakk Sabbath and Dark Chapel.

Tickets went on sale Friday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Salem Civic Center box office and through Ticketmaster.

Led by guitarist and frontman Zakk Wylde, Black Label Society is known for its stomping, blues-infused metal sound and hard-charging stage presence. Wylde, a longtime disciple of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, draws inspiration from classic riffs like “Whole Lotta Love,” “Into the Void” and “Smoke on the Water.”

“The main ingredient in any Black Label soup is the riff,” Wylde said.

The band’s music is built on that foundation, including its 11th studio album, Doom Crew Inc. The record pays tribute both to the band’s dedicated road crew and to fans who have supported BLS since its debut in 1998. The group’s biker-style “kutte” has become a familiar sight at rock and metal shows worldwide.

Wylde first rose to prominence as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, a role he landed after mailing in a cassette as a teenager. He has since appeared on the cover of Guitar World more than a dozen times for his work with Osbourne and Black Label Society.

“Less is more with everything,” Wylde said. “Except the guitar solos.”

Ticket prices for the Salem show start at $33.75.
