Funeral Registry for President Jimmy Carter: John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home is allowing local residents to visit its office during normal business hours from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to sign a funeral registry for President Jimmy Carter that will eventually be sent to his presidential library.
Kroger Ram Truck Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo: One of Southwest Virginia’s favorite family-friendly events is back for the 58th year. The Kroger Ram Truck Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo presented by Davis Heating Cooling Plumbing and Electric, bucks back into Salem Jan. 10-12. Fans can expect non-stop excitement with plenty of bulls, broncs and unlimited fun, they have come to love.
Music at Calvary United Methodist Church: Nationally known gospel guitarist Richard Kiser and his wife, Denise, who is a singer and pianist, will be in concert on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church at 845 Hemlock Rd. in Salem. Also, Elwood and Paulette Nunly, a husband-and-wife team, will be singing and sharing their music and songs. Everyone is invited.
Winterfest: Salem’s annual “Winterfest Beach Bash” returns in February of 2025 with the timeless “Band of Oz”. The 2025 edition of this popular indoor beach party will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. inside the Salem Civic Center arena. This is the 18th straight year that the Hall of Fame band has been selected to showcase it talents for this popular gathering.
Brantley Gilbert: Brantley Gilbert is bringing The Tattoos Tour 2025 to the Salem Civic Center on Thursday night, March 20. Special guests that night will include Black Stone Cherry, Austin Snell, and Colt Ford. Tickets start at $25, plus applicable fees and go on sale Friday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m.
Alison Krauss: Bluegrass music icon Alison Krauss is coming to Salem on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025. The 27-time Grammy winner revealed this week that she and her band, Union Station, featuring Jerry Douglas, will embark on their first tour together in a decade next year. The tour will make a stop at the Salem Civic Center on Tuesday, September 23. The Arcadia 2025 Tour will see the acclaimed group play 73 dates across the United States and Canada.
