Presentation on American Railroad Watches: The public is invited to join Chapter 32 of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors (NAWCC) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, for a presentation on American Railroad Watches. It will be held at the Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., 1354 Blue Ridge Springs Road in Blue Ridge. Two local watch enthusiasts, Tommy Hall and Bill Breslin, will do a presentation on American Railroad Watches covering the standardization of railroad watches with examples of these that were developed because of this standardization. There will be a question-and-answer period following.
Book Sale: Friends of the Salem Library will hold their annual book sale the weekend of Sept. 13-15. Sales open on Friday at 9 a.m. for members, followed by the public from 12-7 p.m. The sale continues from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday. It ends with a big sale day on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The sale will include thousands of books, DVDs and CDs.
