The Roanoke Valley Radio Control Club (RVRC) will have its annual Radio Control Warbird Aircraft Fly-in at the RVRC Field at 525 McClelland Street (behind the old Timber Truss Plant) in Salem. Each year, the RVRC has the Warbirds Over Salem Fly-In for Radio Controlled Airplanes and Helicopters that showcases model aircraft that were used in World War I, World War II, The Korean War, The Vietnam War and the recent Global War on Terrorism. These models (large and small) are painstakingly reproduced to show the detail scale proportions and performance of the original aircraft used in these conflicts. There will also be static displays of radio control equipment to illustrate how model aircraft are powered and controlled. We hope you will take this opportunity to come out, bring your families and view this unique area of aviation that is on the cutting edge of technology related to radio controlled unmanned flight. As most know, there is currently much use of this new technology in military, business and commercial applications.
