In an effort to provide relief for the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, CommUNITY Church has launched Wheels for Hope, an effort to collect 1,000 bicycles for children to be personally delivered this Christmas. Thus far we have raised over 3,000 dollars and collected about 100 bicycles.
To advance this cause and increase awareness, Senior Pastor Tom McCracken is spending the entire week of October 2 on the roof of CommUNITY Church without food. He will have a partial office for the day and a tent for the night and will not leave the roof or eat until at least 250 bicycles are donated.
Collections and donations will be accepted through the month of November and the bicycles will be delivered the second week of December in Houston by members of CommUNITY Church. From donation through delivery, all activity will be posted on the CommUNITY Facebook page with periodic video updates, with the distribution being broadcast live.
Attached, please find a digital copy of our Wheels for Hope brochure. In addition, Pastor Tom will be available all week for interviews and can be reached through his cell phone at 540-529-7843. The community is encouraged to come out to CommUNITY Church all week to drop off a bicycle and encourage the roof dwelling pastor! Contributions may also be mailed to the physical location using the address below.
Thanks for helping the children of Texas by bringing awareness to this cause. 1,000 bicycles translate to over $70,000.00, so the church could use as much awareness and support as possible!
