Merry Christmas everyone, it’s the last week of our football contest.
First, let’s see who gets an early Christmas present from last week’s contest. It was a heck of a contest.
No less than six people missed five games on a very tough week and they were all right around the high point total tie-breaker, which was 55 by North Dakota State in the FCS Playoffs. However, one person hit 55 right on the nose and that was Salem’s Russ Gwaltney, so he wins our cornucopia of prizes which includes the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s, a sub from Joe’s Deli, a gift certificate from Awful Arthur’s and a cap from Sportsman’s Warehouse.
For last week’s “One for the Road” I asked you to predict the score of the Stagg Bowl. The game is traditionally high scoring, so it was no surprise that no one came close to the actual score of 12-0 in favor of Mount Union. In fact, the closest to that score was Pam Cassell, who picked Mount Union to win 24-21. So, she gets the United States atlas from Hettie Barnes, and it will make a wonderful Christmas present for someone.
This is the final week of our contest, and it includes the top bowl games and you chance to pick the Super Bowl champion. We’re also adding a year’s subscription to the Salem Times-Register along with our regular prizes, and we’ll announce the winner the week after the Super Bowl.
For the “One for the Road” question give me your prediction of the score of the Camping World Bowl between Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State next Thursday. The winner gets the last atlas of the season.
