Virginia Tech, Virginia and Salem’s James Collins all came up winners last weekend as we concluded the second week of our football contest.
Collins tied several others with two losses but won on the tie-breaker. He only had one loss heading into Monday night’s game, picking the Chargers over the Panthers. He had Baltimore on Monday, and even though the Chiefs won that game the tie-breaker pulled out a win for Collins. The high score of the week was 52 by Miami over Florida State.
For his efforts James will receive a $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s as well as a large blizzard from Dairy Queen. Those are some nice prizes. Do you realize Mac & Bob’s will be giving away 15 $50 gift certificates this season? That’s a total of $750, the same amount President Trump paid in taxes.
For last week’s Quick Change contest I asked you to guess who would score the most points last week, Tech or UVA. Tech scored 45 and the closet to that was Salem’s Gary Sovine, who picked the Hokies and 47. Gary will receive a free full service oil change from Valvoline of West Main Street for his prognosis, and he’ll be rooting for his favorite team, the Browns, to beat the Cowboys this week.
In honor of Sovine, for this week’s “Quick Change” question give me your prediction on the score of the Browns game against the Cowboys this Sunday. Put your prediction, both winner and score, in the space provided and the closest will get a free oil change from Valvoline.
Remember, the Browns are 2-1 and the Cowboys are 1-2, and when was the last time Cleveland had a better record than Dallas this late in the season? –Brian Hoffman
