Bob McGinn, part of the majority ownership of the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs Hockey Team, will be the featured speaker at the Roanoke Valley Sports Club meeting on Tuesday, October 17, at the Salem Civic Center.    The Hockey Night meeting activities begin at 5:45 pm with the dinner at 6 pm and speaker at 6:45 pm.

After 34 years in the heating and air conditioning business, McGinn retired from a successful career in Toronto, Ontario.  His retirement did not last long, as his passion of owning a professional hockey team led his family to the Southern Professional Hockey League and Roanoke in 2016.  His family holds a majority ownership of 67 percent.

McGinn comes from a hockey family with three sons playing in the National Hockey League in addition of being part owners of the Railyard Dawgs.  His son Jamie plays for Buffalo, Tye plays for Tampa Bay, and Brock plays for Carolina.

Two former Roanoke Valley Rebels hockey players will also be part of the program, Pierre Paiement, who was one of the owners of the Roanoke Express, and Claude Piche.

Anyone not a member of the Sports Club who is interested in attending the meeting should call Joyce Montgomery at 354-6751 or Maggie Drewry at 353-1103 by Friday, October 12, 2017.
