Life Scout Levi Sluss of Boy Scout Troop 449 of Salem recently designed and constructed a beautiful pergola and seating area on the front lawn of the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce as his Eagle Scout Project. Levi recognized that Longwood Park needed a place for the public to relax and take formal photos. Fifteen people, including fellow Scouts, helped to assemble it on Saturday, May 5. It took seven hours to build. The Chamber appreciates all of the hard work and dedication to Levi and everyone who participated. Thanks also to Crystal LaBrie, Mike Tyler and Todd Sutphin of the City of Salem and Lowe’s of Salem for their assistance.
