Maxx Philpott, a 2019 graduate of Glenvar High School, has been put on scholarship on the Virginia Tech football team.
Maxx was a walk-on defensive lineman for the Hokies following an outstanding high school career at Glenvar, where he lettered for four years and was the Class 2 Defensive Player of the Year for both the 2017 and ’18 seasons. He was an all-state selection on both sides of the ball.
Maxx reshirted during the 2019 season at Tech but saw time on the defensive line as a red-shirt freshman this past season, and played so well he was recently put on scholarship, saving parents Jimmy and Patra Philpott some money.
Look for Maxx next fall wearing number 99 for the Hokies.
