Five Roanoke standouts have been named to the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team.
Emily Whitaker, Laura Sullivan and Chris Martin were first-team selections, while Ellie Schad and Lucy Perry were named to the third-team.
A senior midfielder, Whitaker earns her second consecutive first-team nod. Whitaker played in 16 matches during this season. She had two goals and three assists for a total of seven points.
Sullivan caps her career with her fourth straight all-conference recognition and it’s the senior defender’s first appearance on the first-team squad. A sophomore goalkeeper, Martin earns her first all-conference honor.
The duo was part of an RC backline that tied for the top spot in the ODAC, with a 0.71 goals against average for the season. The Maroons led the league with 11 shutouts on the season. Martin’s 0.73 goals against average was second best in the league, while her .875 save percentage was tops in the ODAC.
Schad recorded three goals and five assists for a team-best 11 points during her first season in Salem. A fellow freshman, Perry had two goals and an assist for five points.
Roanoke finished the season with 11 wins and ranked No. 8 in the NCAA South Atlantic Regional rankings.
