Jackie Lee Fletcher, 73, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30.
Jackie is remembered for being a kind and warm-hearted gentleman. Well known for his seamster capabilities, it was not uncommon to find him working away tirelessly on a wedding dress for a new bride or suit for a local businessman with a smile on his face, enjoying every moment. He loved his family and friends wholeheartedly, but you did not have to second guess where you stood with him.
There were no gray areas in his personal opinions, it was always either black or white. He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston for over 20 years. If he wasn’t sewing or woodworking, you could find him relaxing and singing along to some of his favorite southern gospel songs. Jackie no doubt has left behind a loving impression on the hearts of many and will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Daniel and Mildred Louise Fletcher; brother, J.D. Fletcher; sister, Judy Fletcher; sister-in-law, Sharon Lynn Fletcher; niece and nephews, Matthew Eubank and Charles Fletcher; and niece, Tammy Fletcher.
Left to cherish his memory, brother, Charles Fletcher; niece, Terry Beckner (Michael); great-nieces and nephews, Jessica Ann Marie Darnell, Logan William Beckner, Ryan Fletcher, Michael Fletcher, Jay Fletcher Sr. (Doris), and Megan Fletcher; great-great nieces and nephews, Ryan Walrond, Sharon Vickers-Fletcher, Cody Fletcher, John Wayne Fletcher, James Mack Fletcher Jr., and Melissa “Missy” Eubank; aunts, Sandra Patterson and Darlene.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held at Seneca Baptist Church, 8572 Roanoke Rd, Elliston, VA 24087, on Thursday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. The family will also receive friends at the church one-hour prior to the service.
