Flinchum, Robert “Bob” Lynn

Robert “Bob” Lynn Flinchum was born on February 22, 1936 and passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on June 23, 2025 while at home with his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Fitzgerald Flinchum. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Ida Flinchum and his three siblings, Herman Flinchum, Elsie English and Doris Poff. He is survived by his three children, Steve Flinchum (Peggy), Margo Flinchum Kellam (Keith) and Chris Flinchum (Jen), four grandchildren, Beau Flinchum (Kenzi), Conner Flinchum, Allison Kellam and Madison Flinchum, and two great grandchildren, Banks and Andie Flinchum.

Bob grew up in Salem, VA and graduated from Andrew Lewis High School, Class of 1954. He was a multi-sport athlete. It was during his high school years that he met the love of his life, Shirley. He then went on to graduate in 1960 from Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for 36 years at Dominion Energy in Corporate Engineering. He was a baseball coach for both Steve and Chris at Tuckahoe Little League for more than 12 years. He continued his love of sporting events, rarely missing a game for his grandchildren, even those that were out of town. His other love was golf, playing at Dominion Club with the Senior Men Group for many years. Bob enjoyed 3 holes in one.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Nothing pleased him more than sharing time with his family.

Family will received friends at a visitation at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W Broad St, Glen Allen, VA 23060 on Sunday, June 29th from 5 to 7 P.M. The funeral service was at Bennett Funeral Home on Monday, June 30th at 11 A.M followed by a short graveside service at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude.
