Congratulations to Russ Gwaltney, who isn’t losing his marbles when it comes to picking football games.
Gwaltney, who was a marbles champ as a kid, tied several others for high score this week but won on the point total, which was 57 by Northside over Hidden Valley. Russ won despite picking Salem and seeing the Spartans lose for just the second time since August of 2016. Congratulations on a great job.
Of course Hurricane Irma played into the contest last week, causing postponement of the game between Tampa Bay and Miami. Everyone got credit for a win in that one.
For last week’s “One for the Road” contest I asked you to pick the score of the Salem game, and the final was 25-20 in favor of Dinwiddie. The closest to the actual score was Salem’s Warren Goin, so he’ll get an atlas from Hettie Barnes of State Farm Insurance.
For this week’s “One for the Road,” tell me who will lead the NFL in rushing this weekend, and how many yards he’ll have. That’s a little tougher with David Johnson injured and Adrian Peterson carrying a half a dozen times. Put your answer in the space provided on the entry blank and the winner gets an atlas from Hettie. –Brian Hoffman
