Former Spartans win ODAC track championships

The Lynchburg College women and Bridgewater men won Old Dominion Athletic Conference track championships at Bridgewater College last weekend. The Roanoke College women were third and the men were seventh.

Two Salem High graduates won ODAC individual titles for Bridgewater, sweeping the long jump. SHS grad Tye Meador won the women’s long jump at 17’ 11.5” and Davonta Womack won the men’s with a leap of 22’8”.

For Roanoke, Quinn Harlan captured the ODAC Championship in the 100m with a time of 12.00, just two-hundredths of a second shy of the meet record set by RC alum JaLeesa Osborne. For her efforts, she was named the ODAC Women’s Rookie of the Year. Harlan also finished second in the 200m with a time of 25.34. Jennifer Calascione was crowned league champion in the discus with a toss of 39.96m.

The 4×100 M team of Bailey Parks, Claire Aurand, Alison Moreau and Harlan won the ODAC Championship with a time of 48.92. Nicole Moughrabi won the ODAC Hammer Throw Championship with a mark of 41.00 M / 134′ 6″.  Mara Briggs‘ 1.69 M / 5’ 6.5″ in the high jump earned her conference championship honors.

The men’s 4 x 400m relay team of Aaron Rogers, Xavier O’Brien, Mykal Dawkins and Micha Ray placed third with a time of 3:23.34.

For the RC men, Corbin Turner’s 4.12m in the pole vault was good for second-place. Tanner Burton was third in the 110m after clocking a 15.27.
