In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Nativity sets are a popular—and meaningful—decoration in many homes. Nativity sets depict the story of Jesus’ birth. The sets typically include the people, angels, and animals who were there, but some sets also include others who could not have been there, but who would have been welcomed nonetheless.
On Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2-4 p.m., four downtown Salem churches are joining together to present “Visions of the Nativity.” A wide variety of Nativity sets will be on display, designed and crafted by artists from various cultures and in a range of sizes and media. These sets are on loan from personal collections, and displayed at each church as a gift to the community.
View “Visions of the Nativity” at these locations:
· Salem Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Main and Market
· St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of Main and Market
· College Lutheran Church, 210 S College Ave.
· Salem Baptist Church, 103 N Broad St.
The displays at each church will be different. The public is invited to visit all of the churches and enjoy the array of Nativity sets at each location.
