
The Stonegate Swim Club repeated as Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association champions last weekend at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The Gators won the City-County team championship for the second straight year at the meet held Friday and Saturday.
Stonegate won the meet with 19,226 points to outdistance second place Olympic Park, who finished with 17,839.5. The Hunting Hills Country Club was third with 16,299.5 points.
“I am so proud of this team and all of their fantastic swims this weekend,” said Stonegate coach Christen King. “Everyone showed up and swam their hearts out to win the meet for the second year in a row.”
Standout performances for Stonegate swimmers include the following:
Riley Beach (6&under girls) placed 1st silver in the 25 freestyle.
Eli Curtis (6&under boys) placed 1st gold in 25 freestyle.
Saige Supanich (7-8 girls) placed 2nd gold in the 100 IM, 25 backstroke, 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle.
Addie King (7-8 girls) placed 3rd gold in the 50 freestyle and 1st silver in the 25 breaststroke.
Austin Bauman (7-8 boys) placed 1st gold in 25 freestyle, 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle.
The Gators’ 8 & under 100 free relay placed 1st gold consisting of Addie King, Elijah Crush, Catherine Cromer and Austin Bauman.
The Stonegate 8 & under medley relay also placed first gold consisting of Elijah Crush, Catherine Cromer, Saige Supanich, and Austin Bauman.
Shae Honaker (9-10 girls) placed 2nd gold in 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly.
Logan Cromer (9-10 boys) placed 1st silver in the 50 freestyle.
Barrett Huffman (9-10 boys) placed 1st silver in the 50 breaststroke.
Izzy Supanich (11-12 girls) finished 3rd gold in 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, and 100 IM, 1st gold in the 50 breaststroke and 2nd gold in the 100 freestyle.
Riley Handy (15-16 boys) placed 1st gold in 50 backstroke, 100 IM, and 50 breaststroke. He placed second gold in the 50 butterfly.
Jack Lawrence (15-16 boys) placed 1st gold in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
Starke Griffith (17-18 boys) finished 3rd gold in 50 freestyle, 100 IM and in the 100 freestyle.
The Gators’ 11-18 free relay finished 3rd gold consisting of Jack Lawrence, Nolan Cooper, Riley Miller and Starke Griffith.
Briana Beach (25-39 women) finished 1st silver in 50 freestyle.
Stephen Cromer (40-49 men) finished 1st gold in the 50 freestyle, 100 IM and 100 free.
Andy Bauman (40-49 men) finished 1st gold in 50 backstroke, 2nd gold in the 50 freestyle and 100 IM and 100 free.
Efren Ontiveros (80 & over men) finished 1st gold 50 back, 50 free, 50 breaststroke, and 100 freestyle.
The meet concluded the 2025 Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association season, another successful campaign for the Gators.
“We are hoping to continue next season and win it again in 2026,” said King.
