The Glenvar girls’ basketball team has a busy schedule thanks to some postponements due to inclement weather. The Highlanders have six games in a stretch of 11 days beginning Wednesday of this week.
Glenvar was scheduled to play at James River on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Alleghany on Friday. Next week they have four games, including back-to-back home games with Alleghany and Floyd on Monday and Tuesday. Then they’re home to Giles a week from today and at Salem for the Adam Ward Classic game on Saturday, February 3.
“That’s going to be tough,” said Glenvar coach Brian Crockett. “Those back to back games with Alleghany and Floyd won’t be easy, because Alleghany runs the ball up and down the floor and everyone knows how Floyd plays.”
The Highlanders come into the week at 6-8 after a 59-32 loss to Carroll County last week in Hillsville. Kiera Omberg led the team with 13 points.
“I wasn’t displeased, they’re a good team,” said Crockett. “They beat us by 49 the first time and this time we actually won the third quarter.”
