Residents of the Joseph C. Thomas Center at Friendship Living are pretty sure a tailgate they held for Glenvar high school football players helped cheer the team on to victory at last Friday night’s football game.

Coach Kevin Clifford as well as varsity and JV teams and several senior cheerleaders attended the tailgate on Sept. 11, and put on a pep rally for residents and staff.

“It’s an annual tradition at JCT,” explained Activity Director Beverly Adams. “Our dining department put on a spread.” That included cookies shaped like footballs and Glenvar helmets.

The football players and cheerleaders mingled and shared stories with each resident. The following night Glenvar won its Homecoming Game over Cave Spring 49-3.

“We’d like to think that our tailgate event played a little part in cheering them on to victory,” Adams added.
