The Virginia High School League has announced the 2025 Class 2 all-state competition cheer team and Glenvar High School received the top honors. Glenvar senior Addison Snead is the Class 2 Player of the Year and Glenvar head coach Sarah Hatfield is the Class 2 Coach of the Year. In addition four other Highlanders made the first team, senior Morgan Gaines, junior Elle Graffeo and freshmen Audree Frantz and Abby Woods.

Hatfield and Snead guided Glenvar to the 2025 Class 2 state cheer championship for the first time in program history. The Highlanders finished runners-up in 2023 and 2024. In this year’s 2025 finals at VCU, judges awarded Glenvar 241.25 points, one point ahead of Graham’s 240.25. Poquoson was third and Strasburg finished fourth.

“Addison has distinguished herself as an exceptional competitive cheerleader and student leader,” said coach Hatfield of Snead. “During her time with the program, she has been named Regional Cheerleader of the Year twice, earning the honor in both 2023 and 2025. Addison is known for her diligence, strong work ethic and her ability to inspire teammates through her consistently positive, lead-by-example attitude. She has played a vital role in Glenvar’s continued success and has helped set a standard for underclassmen striving to excel within the program.

“Beyond her accomplishments on the mat, Addison fully embodies the role of a student-athlete,” added Hatfield. “While balancing her extracurricular commitments, she maintains a nearly perfect GPA and is actively involved in multiple organizations, including 4-H and BETA Club.”

The top 10 athletes from each first-team all-region squad qualify for all-state consideration. Of those 10 the top five, determined by ranking, make the all-state first team, while the next five are placed on the second team. The highest-rated cheerleader among the state championship team, which was Snead, is named Player of the Year, and the coach of that team, Hatfield, is named Coach of the Year.
