The Group 2A All-State football team was released last week and Glenvar had two players on the team.

The Highlanders had two players make all-state second team on defense. Will Tawney was named all-state second team at linebacker and Hunter Stanley was second team at defensive end. They led Glenvar to another solid defensive season, allowing 10 or fewer points in six regular season games.

Tawney is a senior and Stanley is just a junior. Both Tawney and Stanley also made first team defense on the All-Region 2A West team.

Glenvar had many selections on the All-Conference 38 team, including six on the first team defense and four on the first team offense. Tawney and Stanley led the defensive selections and also named to the first team were Maxx Philpott on the line, Jordan Mabry at defensive back, Daulton Palmer at punter and Colby Street at “All-Purpose.”

On offense, Jacob Mullins was named first team at quarterback. Jack Leonard was a first team runningback, Alec Thompson was honored at receiver and Jacob Hurley was named first team at center.

Glenvar had five more boys named to the second team All-Conference 38. On offense Hunter Walls and John Shaffer were selected for the offensive line and Demerea Humphrey at receiver. On defense Humphrey was named as a defensive back and Thompson was selected as a punt returner.
