Jazz music and a fight against bullying…who would combine these two actions? Only someone who has lived through it and has come out with a driving passion for both.
Dave Bond, a nominee for the 51st Grammy Awards “Best Pop Instrumental Album”, will be speaking and performing at Grace Assembly at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 2. Born in a small town from West Virginia, Bond is considered a gifted flugelhorn and trumpet player who has been living his dream of a career in music.
“I saw David perform at a conference and he comes with high recommendations from respected leaders,” Senior Pastor Loraine Taylor shared. “While there are many skilled musicians and singers who are looking for opportunities to speak and perform, there are less musicians and singers who truly worship God from a heart of love for Christ. I believe David does both.”

Dave openly speaks openly about being bullied as a child. “My favorite thing to do with my music is to use it to go into the public schools to help fight against bullying,” Bond shared. His passion is not only to help kids to understand, but also survive the attacks.
“David skillfully uses his gifts to honor God and bring attention to the painful subject of bullying in schools and other venues,” Taylor said. “He brings a God honoring message along with his music and has been able to positively impact an average of 6000 student monthly.”
Bond started playing the trumpet at a young age of nine, with the influence of Herb Albert, who is an American musician most associated with the group variously known as Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass.
However, the love for music, which was instilled into him by his family, was what created a true artist. “ I was raised in a family of seven brothers and sisters and we all played music when we were young,” Bond shared. “That’s all I’ve known and it had a huge positive influence on my life!”
Bond was raised in a Christian home where his dad was a full-time minister. “I was at church every time the doors were open, and I wouldn’t change it for the world,” he said. “I loved church!”
And at a tender age of only 13, he had his first debut. “It was on a record that was done by Miss Debbie Davis former Miss. America! ” Bond said.
Bond performs approximately 150 shows per year. “I’ve been married for 26 years and we have two kids. Breckin, who graduated from college last year, and Landon who just completed his first year of college!” Bond also studies and competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!
“While our church family loves contemporary music, we also treasure some of the old hymns that are full of biblical truths that speak to the greatness of God and his love for all humanity,” Taylor shared. “Some of those songs are It is Well, I Surrender All, The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace.” Of course, David will be doing a variety of styles of music.” For more information, you may go to Bond’s website athttp://www.davebond.org
