The Glenvar boys’ basketball team is expecting to have some reinforcements this week with the end of the football season. Glenvar’s football team made it all the way to the state final and several players will join the team after taking a short break.

The Highlanders have a light schedule thus far, playing only two games in the first two weeks of the season. After opening with a win over Blacksburg on December 3rd the Highlanders played at Hidden Valley last week and fell 81-43.

“Got blitzed early and often by a well coached Hidden Valley team,” said Glenvar coach Hank Luten. “Important to get back in the gym and work on our deficiencies, both players and coaches. Really excited to see how we respond.”

James Housh led Glenvar with 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Glenvar was scheduled to return the trip to Blacksburg on Wednesday of this week, then host William Byrd on Friday.
