The Glenvar High baseball team will play their second game tonight and the Highlanders are still looking for their first hit. Glenvar opened the season at Hidden Valley and two Titan pitchers no-hit the Highlanders in an 11-0 final.
“Their pitchers threw strikes and we struggled at the plate,” said Glenvar coach Jeremy Cromer. “It wasn’t a great way to open the season. They made the routine plays and we did not.” Cale Vaughan started on the mound for Glenvar and was a victim of poor support behind him. Gray Hutchison came on to pitch two and two-thirds innings and fared better but the cow was out of the barn by then.
The Highlanders will try to turn things around today as they host their home opener against Christiansburg. On Friday Glenvar is at Northside before taking next week off for spring break.
