The Glenvar volleyball team opened on the road Tuesday and took a four set win in Covington. The Highlanders won 29-27, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-23.

“We knew it would be a tough game,” said GHS coach Basil Conner. “They had a good team last year and theyhad a lot of girls coming back.”

Two girls had 11 kills to lead the Highlanders, Hannah Green and Kiera Omberg. Abby Cairns had eight kills, Allison Clark had 22 assists and Katherine Ward had 11 assists.

The Highlanders will have their home opener tonight and it will be a tough one, as Northside, a Group 3A school, comes to town. On Monday Glenvar has another challenging match at Group 4A Blacksburg.
