James River Equipment (JRE) announce its recent acquisition of all assets of the Blueridge Farm Center located at 17535 Main St. in Buchanan.
Current operations of the Agriculture and Turf center will continue with Josh Altice, former Blueridge Farm Center manager, serving as branch and sales manager.
JRE prides itself on the use of experienced dealers who know the local customer base, while simultaneously operating within the strict quality standards that make up the James River experience, the company said in an announcement about the acquisition.
“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to join the team at James River Equipment,” said Altice. “I look forward to working with the many resources available to better serve our customers here in Buchanan and the surrounding area.”
Blueridge Farm Center will now sell, rent and provide parts and service support for new and used farm equipment, implements, light construction, as well as lawn and garden equipment, the announcement said.
As the newest James River Equipment location, the Buchanan location will serve the surrounding area with the full resources, inventory and support of James River Equipment’s 40 full-service dealer location network.
“We are excited to expand into the Buchanan area,” said Chris Johnson, vice-president of operations. “Bringing Blueridge Farm Center into the fold of James River Equipment will allow us to better serve and support the surrounding community and its customers.”
The Buchanan location, combined with the locations of Fishersville, Martinsville and Amherst, will allow for better service to customers throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, the announcement said. Customers will have easy access to a dedicated John Deere dealer with over 90 years’ experience in the industry.
James River Equipment is dedicated to serving the needs of agriculture, construction, forestry, commercial and residential customers, Johnson added.
James River Equipment is a leading industry dealer offering agriculture, construction, forestry, commercial and residential equipment in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The company’s history begins in 1926 when Rudolph Romer, great-grandfather of Mark Romer, president, opened a John Deere dealership in Holly, Co.
The company expanded eastward in 1977 as James River Equipment when the Romer family purchased a dealership in Ashland.
James River Equipment serves thousands of customers annually, selling and servicing over 25,000 pieces of new equipment, the announcement said.
Under the leadership of Mark Romer, James River Equipment is now 39 locations strong and recognized as an industry leader, centered around historic roots, culture, and a focus on people and customer service.
