The football contest went down to the wire this week, but Kansas City just couldn’t score enough points to make Danny Webb a winner.
Danny and our winner, Ron Jordan, both missed three games and had Kansas City going into Monday night. The high point total prior to that was 50 by Oklahoma State against West Virginia, and Ron predicted 58 while Danny had 59. So, Danny needed KC to score 59 points or more against one of the NFL’s best defenses on Monday. Good luck on that.
The Chiefs won the game, 29-19, but that was about 30 points short for Danny so Ron takes home the big prizes. He’ll get the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s, a sub from Joe’s Deli, a gift certificate from Awful Arthur’s and a cap from Sportsman’s Warehouse.
For last week’s “One for the Road” question I asked you to pick the score of the Ohio State-Penn State game. OSU was the winner, 39-38, and Bill Thorne was closest to that score by picking the Buckeyes to win 42-37, so she gets the atlas from Hettie Barnes of State Farm Insurance.
For this week’s “One for the Road,” give me your prediction on the big game Saturday between Virginia Tech and Miami. Don’t forget to predict the actual score, and the closest to the actual score gets the atlas from Hettie.
And by the way, the Big 10 school is Northwestern, not North Western as it appeared in the contest last. Salem’s Debbie Nixon, who composes the contest each week, thought it was like “North Salem.” But I’m not complaining, she does a great job and I got a good laugh when several of the contestants picked “North Western” to win the game. –Brian Hoffman
