Juniors Maddie McDonald, Zoe Blair, and Kendall Todd all tied career highs as the Roanoke College women’s lacrosse team opened their season with a 17-9 win over St. Mary’s College of Maryland Saturday at Kerr Stadium in Salem..
The Maroons struck first with a pair of goals and then used a four-goal run to get out to a 7-3 advantage over SMCM. RC led 9-5 at the half and outscored St. Mary’s 8-4 after intermission to put it away.
McDonald tied her career high in goals with seven and also led the squad in draw controls and ground balls with seven and three. Blair, a Salem High grad, also tied a career high with five goals and goalie Kendall Todd tied her career high in saves with 14.
The Maroons will head to Newport News this Saturday to take on Christopher Newport at 3 pm.
