Christopher Newport jumped out to an early lead and a rally by the Roanoke College women came up short as the Captains took a 15-11 win over the Maroons at Kerr Stadium in Salem last Saturday.
Zoe Blair led Roanoke offensively with five goals on five shots, including going 2-2 from the eight meter. Grace Koutouzis was right behind Blair with four points on a goal and three assists. Tracey Benzing had a pair of goals while Maddie McDonald recorded a goal and an assist.
With the loss the 18th ranked Maroons fell to 8-5 on the season. Roanoke is 5-1 in ODAC games and they’ll travel to Virginia Beach to play a conference game with Virginia Wesleyan this Saturday at 3 pm.
