The Roanoke College swim teams participated in a meet in Pembroke, NC last weekend. The women split two meets, falling to UNC Pembroke but defeating Barton College, while the men fell to Barton. For the women, the team of Halle Schart, Kate Pearson, Bella Jones, and Lily Mullens finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.03. Mullens finished runner-up in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.68. Julianna Morrow was second in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.37 and in the 200 breaststroke, Susanna Price was second in a time of 2:38.25.
The last event of the day saw Mullens, Jones, Schart and Price touch the wall second with a time of 1:41.16. In the men’s meet the team of Austin Hartsell, Tommy Nichols, Ryan Franceys and Regan Euker finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.22. Ethan Brewer won the 1000 free with a time of 10:07.96 while Peyton Meyer followed up with a second place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.46.
Hartsell claimed his second win of the day with a top finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.45. Not to be outdone, Franceys won his second event on the afternoon in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.67. Euker finished runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 22.58.
Hartsell wasn’t done with a win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:15.02. Brewer and Franceys finished 1-2 in the 500 free with times of 4:50.21 and 4:58.16 and Meyer and Chris Snow followed with the top two spots in the 400 IM with times of 4:16.75 and 4:27.22. The final event of the day saw Franceys, Nic Christiansen, Mack Calvert, and Euker finish second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:28.75. The Maroons will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Raleigh, N.C. on Nov. 17 and 18 for the 2023 Pacer Invitational, hosted by William Peace.
