Feeding Southwest Virginia has installed a new food donation box at its Salem warehouse, located at 1025 Electric Road. The receptacle will ensure that donated food items remain clean, dry and safe to consume. “We do ask that all donations be non-perishable, and to prioritize nutritious foods, such as canned proteins, no-salt-added vegetables, no-sugar-added fruit, and whole-grain cereals and pastas, to provide our neighbors with the nutrients they need to thrive,” said Rachel Garnett, director of marketing and communications. Community members are encouraged to share the news and help support the food bank’s mission this fall. -The Salem Times-Register
