All three Salem teams opened with wins Monday as the James I. Moyer Complex played host to the annual Roanoke Area Youth Softball Association tournaments.
The complex is the site of six tournaments this week, two each for 10 and Under, 12 and Under and 16 and Under groups. Salem has one team in each of the three top divisions and all three won Monday games.
The 10 and Unders shut out South County Red in Monday’s debut. Salem was scheduled to play Vinton on Tuesday in the double-elimination tournament.
In the 12 and Under division Salem beat Craig County in the opener. Salem was scheduled to play the South County Thunder on Tuesday.
In the 16 and Under division the Salem girls had an easy time with South County Monday. They were back in action Tuesday against Clifton Forge.
All three tournaments are scheduled to conclude on Friday at the Moyer Complex.
Dixie League baseball begins next week at the complex. Salem will host district AAA and O-Zone baseball tournaments beginning on Wednesday, July 5.
