The Roanoke College men’s soccer team will travel to Lynchburg Saturday to take on the University of Lynchburg in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game. The Hornets are undefeated with a 7-0-5 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in conference games.
The Maroons were 6-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in ODAC games after downing Ferrum at RC on Tuesday. Last Saturday evening at Kerr Stadium the RC men shut out Randolph-Macon, 3-0, with Zach Behe in goal.
The Maroons scored first against the Yellowjackets when Dylan Berk took what looked like a short pass into the box at 21:59, but the ball went right by the goalie to score what became the game-winner. At 35:26 the Yellow Jackets were awarded a penalty kick but Behe made a hard diving stop and preserved a 1-0 lead for the Maroons going into halftime.
Just under 10 minutes into the second half, Harrison Kraus took a pass from Berk from the right side and fired a goal past a diving keeper to put an insurance goal on the board for the Maroons at 54:54. Less than four minutes later, Krause fired a rocket of a shot from Jake Berecz at 58:48 to put the game out of reach.
Next Wednesday, October 19, Roanoke is back home to take on Averett at 7 pm at Kerr Stadium.
