The Roanoke College softball team is looking to get into the win column when the Maroons host William Peace University in their home opener this Saturday. Roanoke will host the Pacers in a 1 pm doubleheader at the James I. Moyer Complex in Salem.
The Maroons opened the season in Greensboro, NC last Saturday and dropped a pair to the host Pride, 3-2 and 3-1.
In the opener Baylee Compton threw 5 2/3 innings, striking out eight. Heather McQueeney had two hits and scored twice.
Claire Warden started in the circle in the nightcap and allowed two earned runs over four innings with three strikeouts. Grace Clary worked two scoreless innings in relief. McQueeney again had two hits, going 4-for-8 on the day.
