Ellie Armstrong notched seven goals as Roanoke College defeated New Paltz ,15-11, in women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in Salem.
Lainey Decker got the Maroons on the board early with a goal off a pass from Maggie Lewis just 13 seconds into the contest. Armstrong kept the scoring going with a goal of her own 40 seconds later to make it 2-0 as a part of a six goal run by Roanoke in the first 12 minutes of play, with the final coming from Katie Clements off a free position shot to make it 6-0.
Armstrong led the way with a game-high seven goals followed by Jenn Schwechheimer with three. In goal, Frances Sefcik made five saves.
The win lifted RC’s record to 5-3.
Last Wednesday the Maroons scored 13 goals in a 22-3 ODAC win over Guilford. Maggie Lewis led the way with six goals followed by Decker and Clements with four each. Carly Schoudel made three saves in goal.
The Maroons were scheduled to host MIT on Wednesday, but results were too late for publication. On Friday Lynchburg is here for a 4 pm game at Kerr Stadium.
